Why is Ugly Mugs not on Social Media?

For many years Ugly Mugs Ireland was on various social media websites.

We both love and hate social media.

Social media is an amazing way to connect with so many brilliant people. If you love socials, we understand why, as we have shared that love. But there is also a dark side to social media. Sadly it is full of abusive people. As yet social media companies are not being compelled to remove hateful and threatening content. As such social media can also be a sad place to be, where you will get abused and you won't easily be able to get that abuse stopped.

We permanently left all social media in 2025 for the following reasons:

[1] We do not believe social media abuse is currently being adequately addressed.

[2] We do not think it is essential for Ugly Mugs to be on social media.

[3] We try to keep our costs as low as possible to keep Ugly Mugs sustainable, and maintaining social media accounts is costly, even if only in volunteer hours.

If you see Ugly Mugs Ireland on social media, please be warned, it is not us. We have no social media accounts.
